Residency Watch in the City of Buffalo: Whether people agree or disagree with the City of Buffalo's residency requirement, it is the law of the City, passed by the Common Council and agreed to by the Mayor (The Residency Officer position was created in January 1997). It is also the biggest running joke of the Masiello administration.

The Mayoral appointment, and Council-approved selection, as Residency Officer, the person charged with investigating and enforcing the City Law, has been a revolving door of embarrasing choices, if not outright fraudulent choices. These people have turned a blind eye towards any city employee who lives outside the city, including such high-profile employee's as Tony Farina, who has voted from a fake address for years while living in another county, much less outside the city limits.

You can read the City of Buffalo Residency policy by clicking here. It's not very vague.

Also, you can see what bio's we've been able to uncover for Masiello's four employee appointments in the last few years. Again, it's almost comical if it weren't so disappointing to a city on the brink of financial takeover by a fiscal control board.
