Dear Commissioners:

I would like to ask for an opinion on a campaign financial filing issue.
On July 17, 2001 I requested a copy of a campaign fund that apparently
doesn't exist. In December of 2000 Erie County Legislator Greg Olma
(D-5th District) held a fundraiser for a "Legal Defense Fund". I was
curious to see how much money was raised and how it was spent, but the
fund didn't exist, according to records at the Erie County Board of
Elections.

I've checked the rules according to the State Board of Elections website
concerning the establishing of campaign accounts, and it seems clear
that an account should have been established.

Any help you can provide to clearing this up would be greatly
appreciated.
